Eagles Split With Mariposa

JV Eaglettes in 1st place in Southern League.

The JV continued its run in the Southern League with an exciting victory against Mariposa on Thursday night. With outstanding preformaces by Paige U., Rebeka M., and Natalie S. they won their 3rd contest in league. Using the press as both an offensive and defensive weapon they out ran the Grizzles. Great Job JVers:-)

Varsity Eagles fall to Mariposa.

The Lady Eagles had a disappointing 40-44 loss to the Mariposa Grizzles on Thursday night. The pressing Eagles were plagued by foul trouble throughout the contest and eventually Candice Balswick and Amy Grant fouled out. TC moved away from the platooning system, that has worked so well throughout the pre-season and the first few league games, for this contest. The "second" team only entered the contest once for just under 2 minutes in the first quarter and were never seen again, as a unit, for the rest of the game. The girls appeared to run out of gas by the overtime period and were out scored 4-0. After a lot of success with the press during the first half the Grizzles began to score on a number of fast breaks during the second half. The girls continued to show that defense is a very strong part of the Eagles game.

Outstanding performance included:

Points: Molly Farrar (16), Amy Wright (9), and Erin Santiago (8)
Assists: Erin (3) and Molly F (2)
Steals: Molly F (9 which is tops this year), Amy (7) and Tiffany Snyder (4)
Blocks: Kaisa Spycher (8, which is also the best of the year), and Molly F (4)
Rebounds: Kaisa (19 - Best of the year), and Amy (15)

Some excellent individual efforts and the team never gave up. Way to work hard girls.
