Reformation 2: TC vs Central Catholic

vs CC Nov 09a
Coach Edwin and the Team

The Lady Eagles began their 2009/2010 season in a big way. Traveling to Central Catholic the TC varsity girls were impressive as they beat the Raiders on their home court. Led by the freshman Halie Bergman's 34 points and outstanding pressure defense the Eagles outscored the Raiders 64-33. Sophomore Natalie Snyder, last year's JV star, scored 6 points in her 1st varsity game.

The Eagles over-powered Central with a very quick defense that deflected 9 passes and stole the ball 21 times. Central had no answers to the swarming "D" that Coach Edwin threw at them. When the Raiders could get the offense going 12 of their shots were blocked, 6 by sophomore Marly Burton. TC's excellent defense led to a high scoring offense.

Outstanding Individual Performances:

Steals: Candice Balswick (2), Molly Zuhlke (4), Halie Bergman (5), and Molly Farrar (6).
Rebounds: Kara Gabrielson and Halie (7), Kaisa Spycher and Amy Wright (6) and Molly Z (5).
Blocks: Marly Burton (6), Halie and Amy (2).
Assists: Molly F (4), Halie and Molly Z (2 each).
Scoring: Halie (34), Kaisa (8) and Natalie Snyder (6).

The Lady Eagles will be playing Jim Elliot Christian on Tuesday, Dec. 8 @ 5:00 PM (NOTE THE EARLIER TIME)

Here's a link to last year's final four game with Bradshaw. There are some nice photos of the girls who played at the section tournament.

Lady Eagles 2009/2010: The Juniors

The year's team has four juniors. When they, the Mollies and Kara (Kaisa was on varsity), were freshman they lead the JV Eaglettes to their first Southern League championship. As sophomores they lead the varsity Lady Eagles to the final four in the Division 5 Section Tournament. That was the deepest into the tournament since the section went to 16 teams for a Turlock Christian basketball team. Maybe this year they can go even further.

Here is an overview of the returning juniors.

TC vs Brookside5290
Kara Gabrielson: Kara is a super quick guard who averaged 3 rebounds and 2 steals per game. This is her 2nd year on the varsity.

Picture 23b
Molly Farrar: Molly is a 2nd year varsity player. She averaged 5.3 points a game as a sophomore. She played point and was the 2nd in assists last year and had 4 rebounds and 2.5 steals per game.

Picture 5
Kaisa Spycher: Kaisa is starting her 3rd year on the varsity. She lead the team, as a sophomore, with 8.6 rebounds per game and 2.5 blocked shots per game. Those averages places her 4th in blocks for sophomores and 9th in rebounds for sophomores in the Sac-Joaquin last year.

Picture 5_2b
Molly Zuhlke: Molly is a 2nd year varsity player. She averaged 3.5 rebounds and 1.5 block shots per game. Her blocked shot average place her at 9th for sophomores in the Sac-Joaquin section.

Come out and support, not just the juniors, but all the players at Central Catholic on Tuesday night. The JV game starts at 6 PM and the varsity around 7:30. If you need directions just scroll down a bit and there is a map.

Go Eagles.

Lady Eagles 2009/2010: The Underclassman

The Lady Eagles traveled to scrimage Forest Lake Christian on Friday night. The varsity faced the scrappy Falcons. Everyone played a lot of minutes. The Falcons, usually a power in Division 5, were out manned and out gunned by the Eagles. One TC player said, "They were trying to beat us up instead of beat us". Good job Eagles.

This year's team has three underclassman on the roster.

44 Marly
Marly Burton: Sophomore Marly returns for her 2nd year on varsity. Last year she averaged 1.1 blocked shots per game and 5.3 rebounds.

Tahoe July 09 24a
Natalie Snyder: Natalie, a sophomore, makes her debut as the only member of last year's record setting JV team on varsity. She lead the Eaglettes to a 15-0 Southern League championship as a freshman. The sharp shooting sophomore should continue to shine.

Tahoe July 09 36
Halie Bergman: New to the Eagles and to Turlock Christian High School is the freshman lefty Halie. She played on the summer team that did so well at the Lake Tahoe Tounament in July. We are looking forward to her contributions to this year's Lady Eagles.
